Water Studies

 These are a series of studies of the water from the  beaches of Green Turtle Cay.  Colors of the water are so unbelievable! 

PINK LADIES

 This is a pair of 6" x 9" acrylic and collage paintings done on paper.  Had lots of fun with the bright colors.....not my usual subdued colors!

Blackbirds

This is a 22 x 30 acrylic collage with a lot of metallic accents.  I have included a slightly side view so that more detail shows.



BEEN FISHING

All of the above paintings are acrylic on collaged antique map pages.  The small ones are 8 x 8 and the large top painting is 12 x 12.

GOODNIGHT IRENE

This is a painting I worked on during the time that Hurricane Irene was coming over my little island of Green Turtle Cay, Abaco Bahamas.  The power was out and I was running on my generator.  I was very fortunate to have three of my friends staying with me during the storm.  After the storm power was off for 9 days so it was a constant battle to keep the generator fueled and find fuel on the island.  Everyone pitched in and helped with the storm cleanup and there is already a blush of new growth on the trees which lost all their folige from the winds.  I lost 3 trees but a kind neighbor came by with his chainsaw, cut them up and hauled them away.  Kindnesses like this are the reason I choose to live here.

Its been a warm, muggy month on Green Turtle Cay with lots of rain but no hurricanes so far.  Too warm to work in the garden so lots of time to paint.  One of my painting buddies moving back to Canada tomorrow. She will be missed.

This is one of several experimental paintings I have been doing inspired by artist Anne Bagby's DVD's I have been studying.  Most of the texture design  is done on tissue paper and then collaged onto watercolor paper and the designs themselves are stamps I have carved.  Its very quiet on Green Turtle Cay now and I have lots of time to invest in trying new things.  Hope you enjoy.

Collage Faces

  Here are two collaged faces done with antique maps and pencil sketches inspired by artist Anne Bagby's work.  Each is 6" x 9" and will be mounted to a 9" x 12" board.  I have always loved working with faces and figures and am getting back into it.
